Welcome to ActAZ, Arizonas newest non-profit homeschool group. We are a family oriented group dedicated to the learning and development of our children.

We are currently in the process of forming a group in the West/Southwest/Central Phoenix area. The West Side Educators, a large but wonderful group, is north of us in the 75th Ave and Thunderbird area may be closer for you, or like in our case, too far for us to travel. We are located in the 43rd Avenue and Indian School area and are forming this group to offer activities for our children as well as share information in teaching our children in our individual homeschool environments. Not to mention, we parents need the support and fellowship of others going through similar trials with their homeschool arrangements.

This group will be formed as a non-denominational group. This does not mean we are not religious. Only that we are dedicated to helping all people from all denominations. We feel that the education of all children is important and ones religious beliefs should not be a factor in this type of organization being made available to them. All are welcome to join.

We are providing the ActAz discussion group where members can post articles about problems they encounter, or tips and tricks for homeschooling that other users might want to know about.

The discussion supports threads, so you will be able to post a reply to another user's question. We recommend prefixing the subject of your posting with a "Q:" if it's a question, or an "A:" if it's an answer to a question, or nothing at all if you're just making a comment or observation.

EVCHE is a Christian home school support group in the East Valley of Phoenix, Arizona. It is designed to function as a CO-OP to support, inform and provide opportunities for Biblical and educational excellence. Members come together to build up the family of God as we form lasting friendships for our children and ourselves.

EVCHE is a Christian homeschool support group dedicated to encourage and support families who educate their children at home. We value education based on biblical principles without government intervention, oversight, or control. We function as a co-op, building community and relationships through activities and events designed to complement the endeavors of our members.

Originally named Bethany Home Educators (BHE), our group was formed in 1985 and incorporated in 1994. We have approximately 100 families, all committed to working together for the benefit of our children. We are a Christian support group and acknowledge the need to maintain relationships with other groups, religious or secular, in order to keep abreast of political and educational trends that might effect our parental and civil liberties, or otherwise affect our ability to educate our children.

This homeschool support group believes:

1. The Bible is the inspired and only infallible authoritative Word of God.
2. There is one God and he exists from all eternity in three persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.
3. All men have sinned, both by nature and by act, and it is only Jesus Christ who is able, and has paid the penalty for man's sin through His substitutionary death on the cross. He then triumphed over death by His visible, bodily resurrection.
4. Salvation is offered as a free gift to the sinner. This gift must be accepted by faith, not trusting in any personal work but in the sacrificial death of Jesus Christ alone.

After several years of home schooling Jerry and Kathy Cluff opened their home to friends. Here we integrate into our curriculum both stimulating academics and essential scriptural based, character strengthening values. Our goal is to provide a rich blend of topics aimed at providing a well rounded education. We encourage citizenship, personal growth, family unity and service.

Parents play an integral role in their children’s education at Grant Academy. We provide a detailed schedule and parent planner to keep parents advised about what we are studying in class. We also have monthly parent’s meetings and personal interviews each term. By sharing the work and combining home school and private school we are able to keep costs low.

roup activities are another advantage of home schooling at Grant Academy. Our trips, both around town and out of state, provide hands-on experiences supporting the curriculum, that can be had in no other way. We have explored the Grand Canyon, San Diego, Wahsington D.C., Salt Lake City, San Francisco, Flagstaff, Phoenix, and experienced a wilderness survival in north-east Arizona. Grant Academy is on the Go !!

We believe in setting and working toward goals. As teachers, we need to know the goals of every student in our class. Some students may be preparing ti enter university work as soon as possible. Some may want to pursue a high school certificate or GED. Others may be more interested in pursuing vocational opportunities and may want training in a particular skill as soon as possible. Before beginning the 2004-2005 school year, we will be visiting with the parents of each student and with the students themselves to identify what it is the student wants to achieve.

We believe the Book of Mormon is "the most correct of any book on earth...and that a person would get nearer to God by abiding by its precepts, than by any other book." Each student who attends Grant Academy will be encouraged to immerse himself in a study of that book both in and out of class. We also study the Old Testament, the New Testament, and the Qu'ran, and encourage students to seek for truth in all areas of life.
# We believe Grant Academy is only a supplement to parental influence and teaching. Parents are the true guides to their children's education and should be intricately involved in knowing what the children are learning and be able to reinforce such learning at home. This is especially critical since Grant Academy meets only 12 hours a week, leaving much time for other parental direction. A study syllabus for the 2004-2005 school year is prepared to give parent and student and overview of the school year. Hopefully, this will help greatly in achieving parental support and reinforcement.
