The Home Education Network Inc (HEN) is the
largest, most vocal alternative education support group in Victoria.
HEN has its origins in the Alternative Education Resource
Group (AERG) which was formed in 1980 by a small group of concerned
parents wanting alternatives to mainstream education for their
children. Initially the group was very involved in community schools
but gradually the main focus moved to home education and the name of
the group was changed to the Home Education Network
Most of our members today are actively home-educating their
children. HEN promotes local groups of home educators who organise
group activities and classes as well as providing support to
members.
HEN is based in Victoria and most of our members are Victorian but
we welcome interstate members also.
The Home Education Network supports the United Nations’ Declaration
of the Rights of the Child
Home Education Network Mission Statement
As home educators, we believe that children have an innate curiosity
to learn and grow and, when given the freedom and support of family
and friends, they will have the best opportunity to reach their full
potential.
We are dedicated to raising self-motivated, broad-minded, confident,
competent, independent, passionately alive people.
Home education empowers children and young adults to discover their
potential unencumbered by arbitrary authorities. It promotes the
love of life-long learning.
Home education provides broad socialisation through networking with
a diverse group of people of varying age and social backgrounds. The
Home Education Network recognises that true socialisation begins
with acceptance and growth within one’s own family and a naturally
widening circle as children grow older.
It aims to provide additional social opportunities for home
educating families to encourage mutual support amongst home
educating families and access to like-minded people as well as
support and encouragement to enquiring families.
Our aim is to provide support and information for people wishing to
educate their children from a home base.
Please note HEN is a parent support group, not a business
Please note that whenever you contact someone at HEN, we are all
volunteers. We are all keen to help other home educators find the
information they need, put them in touch with the right person, book
you into classes/events/camps, or post out things you have ordered
and we strive to do so as quickly and efficiently as possible.
The HEN team do an amazing job of supporting other home educators
and are often so efficient that many people who contact us don’t
realise we aren’t a professional organisation but please do keep in
mind that all us are volunteers who do have children at home who
need our attention. For this reason, we can’t always respond as
quickly as you would expect from professionals.

"The Word of God is the Fountain of all Wisdom" (Eccl 1:5)....- this
is the motto of Fountain Resources, our home-based, family
apostolate located in South Australia. Fountain Resources aims to
provide the very best resources for life - resources for faith,
education and health. As Christian home educators, we are committed
to providing Godly and wholesome materials. We specialise in
Charlotte Mason inspired books.
Fountain Resources began in 1996, selling a selection of Catholic
and Christian books. Having homeschooled since 1992 and having
implemented the educational philosophy of Charlotte Mason in our
home learning, we eventually began to stock some titles dealing with
Miss Mason's philosophy. Our range has now grown to include general
home schooling books, "living books" and other resources.
We aim to provide a service based on our experience and not to just
"sell" books. The books on our shelves are carefully selected - you
will not find all the latest "fads" on our shelves. We believe that
the service and expertise we offer can not be matched by
"superstores".
As we are a small, home-based apostolate, we are not able to stock
everything we would like to. It also requires an enourmous amount of
time to keep our online catalogue up-to-date, so not everything we
have is listed here.
If what you are looking for is not listed in our catalogue please
ask us and we will do a search for you. This is a service which we
are pleased to offer to you at no cost.
Here is the book you've been waiting for! Teach every subject with
great "real" books! Classic Catholic literature arranged by subject
and history to aid you in teaching virtually every subject from a
Catholic perpective. Maureen Wittmann is a well-known Catholic
speaker, writer, and home educating mom who shares her experience,
research, and wisdom with others through this valuable resource.

The Home Education Association Inc. (HEA) has been formed to
support, promote and encourage the practice of home education.
The HEA has no affiliation with state education authorities and all
members should note that privacy is an Association priority.
The broader objects of the HEA are as follows:
* To uphold the principle that parents are primarily responsible for
the education of their children.
* To promote a broader awareness of Home Education and its benefits
throughout Australia.
* To promote and encourage the development of Home Education
Networks.
* To provide services and resources to Home Education Networks and
individual home educators.
* To endeavour to procure any rights, privileges, concessions or
benefits relating to home education for home educators and their
families.
* To maintain a respect for the diversity of philosophies and
methods used by Home Educators.
Home education, or homeschooling, is a legal alternative to school
education in all Australian states. As the name suggests, it
involves a parent taking direct responsibility for the education of
their children at home.
The HEA was formed in April 2001 to promote the practice of
homeschooling in Australia and to provide members with benefits
which would be difficult to obtain by individuals or smaller groups.
Becoming a member of the Association is a way in which you can
support this Australia-wide initiative to promote the practice of
home education.
If you would like to find out more about us, the objects of the
Association and the benefits of membership are dealt with in detail
on the About Us page.
