We are a group of Catholic families joined together
to promote and support Catholic homeschooling.
We are under the Spiritual Director of Rev. Edwin J. Duffy of the
Honolulu Diocese. Prayer and Spirituality are essential to our
group. We promote the Holy Rosary and devotion to Our Lady of
Fatima. We unite under our Holy Father Pope Benedict XVI and Bishop
Clarence "Larry" Silva of the Honolulu Diocese. Our goal is to be
good Catholic examples to our children and the community and to
teach our children to know, love, and serve God and His Holy Church.
The emphasis of our group is on The Family...our own families, the
Catholic Family and our own support group family.
We meet at Saint Pius X R.C. Church in Manoa the 1st Friday of each
month at 9:00 am until 12 noon, starting with Mass and ending with
the Rosary. Confessions will be heard prior to Mass.
First Corporal Act of Mercy: To Feed the Hungry
Please contribute food to the St. Pius X food pantry each month.
During these bad economic times, more and more of our neighbors go
hungry. Make sacrifices as a family to help feed our needy brothers
and sisters in Christ.

Hawai'i Homeschool
Association, HHA, is an inclusive support group of homeschooling
families for Oahu (for Maui see "Resources"). We are a diverse group
of families with different backgrounds and many different approaches
to homeschooling.
The Hawai’i Homeschool Association is organized to enable its
members to share homeschooling ideas and experiences and to
disseminate information relevant to homeschoolers on Oahu. HHA
itself does not organize or sponsor any classes, events, field
trips, etc., but HHA members are encouraged to organize such
activities and share them with other members of the group through
the HHA website and bulletin board in order to provide educational
opportunities for our children and opportunities for members to
share their homeschooling experiences, participate in group
activities, and socialize with one another.
Hawai'i has a state-run public school system. The rules governing
homeschooling in Hawai'i are found in Chapter 12, "Compulsory
Attendance Exceptions" of the Hawai'i Administrative Rules for the
Department of Education. In particular, see sections 8-12-1 through
8-12-4 and 8-12-13 through 8-12-22.
Read the rules and refer to them when dealing with school officials.
Most of the problems that arise between parents and school officials
are due to simple misunderstanding of the administrative rules. Do
not rely on school personnel to tell you what to do. Contact a
support group if you need help. Here is a brief description of some
of the rules.
